CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
ANNUAL BEEKEEPING INNOVATION AWARD FOR UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES 2025
The Uganda National Apiculture Development Organization (TUNADO) is the apex body mandated by stakeholders and recognized by Government (MAAIF) to coordinate the apiculture sector. In a bid to promote innovation in the apiculture industry, TUNADO in partnership with Makerere University, with support from Bees for Development are organising the 1 st beekeeping innovation award for universities and colleges, 2025, under the theme; “NextGen Apiculture: Student-led solutions for productive apiaries”
We hereby invite applications for the beekeeping Innovation Award 2025, a national competition designed to recognize and support student-led innovations in beekeeping and to advance sustainable apiculture practices in Uganda. This award provides a platform for university and college students to showcase creative solutions, technologies, and practices that can transform the beekeeping sector, improve productivity, and promote environmental sustainability. Objectives
1. To inspire youth-led innovations that strengthen the apiculture value chain.
2. To promote research-based and practical solutions to challenges facing beekeepers.
3. To encourage collaboration between universities, industry, and communities.
Eligibility
Applications are open to students from universities and colleges in Uganda offering programmes in apiculture, agriculture, environmental science, or related disciplines. Both individual and team applications are welcome.
Submission Requirements Applicants should submit: A brief Curriculum Vitae, a detailed report (maximum 10 pages) describing the innovation, objectives, methodology, and expected impact. A prototype or demonstration, where applicable, to support the report. All submissions should be sent to: info@tunadobees.org and donkugonza@gmail.com

Award and Recognition:
Winners will receive: A cash prize to support further development of their innovation, mentorship from experienced professionals in apiculture and agribusiness and a feature in TUNADO’s and Makerere University’s communication platforms.
