Trias supports TUNADO to provide focuses Business Services to her members through ESOEP

Early this year Trias awarded  The Uganda National Apiculture Development Organisation (TUNADO) a five year 2017 – 2021  “ Enabling Synergies Between Organised and Enterprising People “ that receives support from Belgian  Director General Development (DGD)  embarked on implementing a five year project 

The project is a continuation of the ESOEP 2014- 2017 and is being implemented in West Nile (Arua, Nebbi and Zombo) and Bunyoro (Masindi, Bulisa and Hoima)

General objective of the programme is to see family farmers and small scale entrepreneurs; especially poor people, women and young people have a sustainably improved livelihood and act collectively.

Objectives of the new programme 

1. TUNADO provides focused business services, including its business wing at all levels, supporting entrepreneurial skills for its members and establishment of formal, sustainable SME’s that have better access to resources and markets.

2. More Participation of women in decision making and representation in the board, providing women-targeted services, leading to formal women-owned enterprises in production and processing 

3. More youth actively participating in decision-making, accessing tailor-made services leading to increased youth membership and profitable youth operated enterprises

4. A well established and maintained organisation in its own premises, with functional regional offices and competent, motivated and well-performing staff and board

5. TUNADO is the centre of excellence for apiculture, recognised nationally and internationally, enhancing advocacy for its members through inclusive and innovative MSPs and contributing to better opportunities for its members

The Programme Seeks To Achieve The Following Results:-

1) Empowered poor, women and youth proactively participate in their own Member based Organisation or in democratic, open and mixed MBOs, acting towards a more inclusive society

2) TUNADO has effectively improved their internal organisation and organisational sustainability

3) TUNADO and their strategic public and private partners facilitate integrated quality services to ensure better participation in markets, especially of poor people, women and young people

4) TUNADO joins in coordination, dialogue and collaboration with other actors towards a more inclusive global society

Expected Outputs 

• Increased TUNADO membership satisfaction for services offered to 96% by 2021

• Reach out to 85342 members (29869 women and 36876 youth) with capacity building trainings by 2021

• Increased membership performance in application of new knowledge, skills and improved techniques to 1780 (623 women and 534 youth) by 2021

• Members with sustainable production techniques and business performance -1424 (498 women and 427 youth) by 2021
